If one of you don't have much family?

If one of you don't have much family how do you deciede what family comes or if family of one of you lives to far away where do you have the wedding so that every one can attend the most joyus time of your life?

That's a tough one and we're facing the same issue.
Although it was difficult, we decided to have the wedding where WE live and call "home" despite the fact that our families live elsewhere. We'll plan on visiting our hometowns to see those members who aren't able to attend the ceremony. It was just too difficult and expensive to try to plan a ceremony & reception far away.

I have a huge and close-knit family. He has a very small and "stand-offish" family. I chose to limit invitations to immediate family only. Another tough call but money, distance, etc. all played a role in it. No one was offended!

Good luck

The best thing to do is to pick a "neutral" location that works best for you and your fiance. Then depending on what your particular financial situation may be, invite those person who are the closest to you, emotionally.

Hope this helps!

Candidly, I was shocked at the number of people who sacraficed to come to my wedding 9 years ago. Invite them and let them make the decision. You could also consider having the wedding where you and your fiance now call home and have a lesss elaborate reception later in the year in the town where your family lives. OR vice versa. You could wear your wedding attire to the reception. Use the same colors you used at your wedding to decorate. Plan the trip home within a month or so after your wedding-- or en route to or from the honeymoon. Don't forget to take pictures at both events, and include them in the wedding album!
